Wanderlust in Australia

Kesäfiiliksissa keskellä talvea!

Jos eilen sai avata joulukalenterista ensimmäisen luukun, niin tänään on kyllä vähintään yhtä jännää: tasan kuukausi aikaa siihen, kun vaapun upouuden rinkkani kera lentokoneeseen, joka kiidättää minut (pikku pysähdyksellä Dubaissa) kohti Australiaa! On siis korkea aika perustaa uusi blogi, joka tällä kertaa tulee täyttymään paitsi omistani, myös matkakumppanini Sarkun seikkailuista, jonka olen siis valjastanut co-bloggarikseni. Tarkoituksenamme on suunnata pois pimeydestä ja kohti lämpöä (lue hot as hell) ja mikäs sopisikaan paremmin kohteeksi kuin jokaisen salainen unelma Down Under.

Matkavalmistelut alkavat pikkuhiljaa olla kunnossa. Viisumi on plakkarissa, rinkka löytyy, lonely planetista laina vetämässä tutulta sekä lennot hankittuna (myös paluu, muuten houkutus jäädä olisi kasvanut liian suureksi). Tarkoitus on siis tutustua Australian itä-rannikkoon sekä käydä Uudessa-Seelannissa varmistamassa, että lampaiden keskelle ensi vuodeksi eksyvällä pikkusiskolla on kaikki hyvin. Sitä mukaa kun kotimaan listasta voi siis ruksia hoidettavia asioita yli, niin jännitys paikan päällä alkavaa seikkailua koskien kasvaa. Suomelle saa siis heittää hyvästit jo joulukuun lopulla ja rakasta kotimaata näkee seuraavan kerran vasta (toivottavasti) kovin keväisissä tunnelmissa. Siihen väliin mahtuu niin paljon suunnitelmia, sekä yksityiskohtaisia (”tee oma versio how to catch a kangaroo - videosta”) että ympäripyöreitä (”olis kiva reissata vähän ympäriinsä”), että niiden spekulointi kannattaa ehkä lopettaa heti alkuunsa. Sen sijaan julistan täten lähtölaskennan kohti Australian lämpöä alkaneeksi ÄN YY TEE NYT.

Feeling summery in the middle of the winter!

Yesterday, it was that time of the year again when you are allowed to open the first box in your chocolate calender. Now, if that was exciting, it was still nothing compared to the excitement that I am feeling right now, after realizing that it is  precisely one month to go before I take off and fly to Sydney, Australia, to meet up with my friend Sarkku there only few days later. So it is about time to start a new blog, this time together with my co-blogger and travelling buddy Sarkku. The plan is to leave behind this dark and miserable land of eternal winter and instead enjoy few months under the sun in Down Under.

The planning part in homeland is pretty much covered: currently spending 99% of studying time online searching results for “Australia” since travel arrangements with flights and visa are already checked.  Our aim during the next few months is to get to know the East Coast of Australia and visit New-Zeeland to see that everything is alright with the little sister who will be sharing her territory with millions of sheeps next year.  Hand in hand with my the to do –list in Finland shortening, the tension towards future adventures keeps growing! Lovely Finland will just have to manage without us for few months, until we arrive back in the middle of (hopefully beautiful and warm) Finnish spring! The current very unofficial Australia programme is filled with projects, starting from very detailed ones (“ film your own version of the how to catch a kangaroo – clip”) to more circumspect ones (“get to know some laid-back people”) so maybe it is best not to say more about that. Instead it is officially time to start the countdown: ready, steady, GO!
